Kuku Surendran has proved himself with his directorial debut in Oral which had Mukesh in the lead. After receiving rave reviews for his maiden venture, Kuku is now with his second feature, a film more rooted in the commercial genre. The film titled Veeralipattu has for the first Prithviraj and Padmapriya, sharing the lead.

The film has Prithviraj in the role of Hari, who is a software engineer at Chennai. He is the grandson of Narayanan Nair (Jagathy Sreekumar) the patriarch of the one of the most prestigious Nair family in the village. Hari's father Kesavan Nair (Murali) is a man of values and a disciplinarian. The family has held pride of place in the village for several generations. Hari who was very close to his father from his childhood, breakup with him on a critical issue, and he leaves his big joint family to take up his job in Chennai.

And in Chennai, Hari is a normal guy who has his fancies. There he meets Pooja who hails from a very well-to-do family. After some coincidences and circumstances that bring them together, they fall in love.

Now having reinvented life and love after a couple of years away from his immediate family members, Hari now decides to return to his home to meet his parents.

And within no time, Pooja also turns up in his house, at the silent village. And as expected, her arrival in the family creates some sort of problems, but as she decides to stay back to make the father and son see eye to eye, some sort of unexpected happenings are in the offer. The film has also in the cast Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sreejith Ravi, Indrans, Jaffer, Rekha, Krishnan, Lakshmi and Ancy John in other important roles.

The film which was earlier titled as Anandam is written by Ashok Sasi and is produced by the director's elder brother Sunil Surendran.

Manoj Pillai wields the camera for the film, which has a few good songs set to music by Viswajeeth in the lyrics of Vayalaar Sharath. The film which was shot in Vadakkancherry and Alathur areas of Palakkad district, will get released by the end of this month.
